Question Major problems with Apache & PHP

I've recently tried rebuilding Apache and it seems that now all php sites are given a pop up to download the index.php file.

I commented out libphp4.so and mod_php4.c from the httpd.conf file so that apache can be rebuild. If i were to uncomment them, apache would fail on a restart.

    Any ideas?

    Default

There is another thread on forcing a rebuild - but that did not work for me. What I and my maintainance company (Fast Server Management) end up doing is rebuilding apache in a plain vanilla (option one - defaults in easyapache) and then adding in all the modules and rebuilding again.

Laborious and took 15 minutes - but it worked.
