Manual Services Star/Stop/Restart

I cant get my services to start/stop/restart by these commands:

Manual Stop - Start of services in SSH: (start | stop | restart) #
service httpd
service exim
service proftpd
service named
service mysql

Would anyone know how I can fixed this problem. I want to use these commands because its faster then /etc/init.d/cpanel start

What is the error that you are getting when you try to do this?
