Memcache and Memcached confuse

Hello

On my cpanel i was enable the memcache using easy Apache and i thought that this will work for caching static content like some images and so on.

Today i was looking to install a torrent system and i was read on installation:

Install memcached on the server and memcache php extension and this confuse me a lot.

Does the memcache using easy Apache setup cache anything at all?

Do i have to use memcached as well?

Please give me some more info on this but easy to understand

Also i was wondering if i can use memcache (static content) and xcache (as it is for php) together or not and do i have to configure anything special for this kind of setup?

In simple terms, memcache is PHP extension for using memcached.

Memcached is the caching eingine/server/service whatever you want to call it.

Without each other they are useless.

You will have to install memcached manually.

So now in my case if i install the Memcached and retsrt Apache it will work?

And how can i test that works?

Yes, as you already have memcache installed, you just have to install memcached.

yum install memcached will fix it on Centos?

Do i have to do anything else after that?
