    Website Owner

    Default missing index.html

    HI,

I have access to public_html folder, I do not see index.html page nor htdocs folder. When I try to access ip address I see

    http://ip-address/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi

How can I change it to run my php code?

    Any advise?

    Thanks

    Hello

There will not be an index.html file or htdocs directory within "public_html" by default. Instead, you have to upload your website files to this directory in order for them to be accessible.

Also, ensure you are using the domain name or the URL provided by your web hosting provider when attempting to access your website.

    Thank you.

Please make sure that you have assigned dedicated IP for your site if you wish to access it with the IP address only.
Only with the dedicated IP address you can access your site at http://x.x.x.x (where x.x.x.x= IP address)

Every domain hosting account having its own document root path therefore while you are browsing the shared serer ip address you are receiving the content present under the directory /usr/local/apache/htdocs/ as its assigned to the shared ip address by default, if you want to browse the domain with the temporary URL then refer to the following syntax

    http://serverIPaddress/~cpanel-userr-name/

For example server ip is 192.168.0.1 and cPanel user name is test then temporary URL is

    http://192.168.0.1/~test/

    Or

If you want to browse the domain with the ip address only then assign dedicated ip to the domain, so that you will be able to browse the domain with the server ip but make sure that you are assigning the dedicated ip

In addition to the information in the replies from the other users, make sure that the domain resolves to the IP address on which the domain is configured in the WebHost Manager. I made the following post yesterday that elaborates on this:

Your access level indicates that you are a Web site owner, so your host really should be able to help you with this.
