We have a client moving off a non cpanel server onto our cpanel box. THey have a ssl cert and im trying to figure out how to transfer it. I went to geotrust (the place they got their cert) and got the following information on moving certs from 1 unix box to another.
I have found the server.key and server.crt files. They where not where I had expected them to be (/etc/httpd/conf/ssl.crt and /etc/httpd/conf/ssl.key).ow to move a certificate from one Unix server to another Unix server.
You should be able to copy your original certificates from the old server and place them in the corresponding directories in the new server. (Note: Per our certificate licensing agreement, you must purchase a new certificate if you plan on continuing to use the certificate on its current location. )
There are 3 files you need to move:
- server.key , your Private Key (and, remember your Password!)
- server.crt, your web server certificate
- equifax.crt, the Equifax root CA certificate (if used)
My question is that they both are named server.key and server.crt. In a post that I found by search it said to call these files something like secure.domain.com.crt and secure.domain.com.key
http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread....light=move+ssl
Since the cert and key files on the old server are simply server.key and server.crt can they be renamed? If not how will WHM pick them up?
I do have the CSR, RSA and CERT saved on my computer when I had to purchase these for the client the first time around. Can I use those on the new server? I saved them to a text file after getting burnt once with losing the CSR.
Thanks in advance for your help.
