Default MX Record has propogated for an add-on domain

however the email is being bounced back. I searched as many MX record threads I could with no luck.

    MESSAGE:
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    jwatts@etelesystems.com
    unrouteable mail domain "etelesystems.com"

This was generated by my server.

I checked the MX record here: http://www.dnsstuff.com/

and it does see the correct IP to forward this MX record but still getting bounces. Any one see anything or know anything I can try to fix?

    Default more to the story

I tried sending email from external sources (hotmail.com) with success. However when sending via the server the domain is hosted on it fails.

    anyone comment?

    1. ADD the domain name to /etc/remotedomains

    2. REMOVE the domain name from /etc/localdomains

Default thanks i did look into those.

    remote domains has the domain

    local domains does not..

I don't see how this would matter, but I'm still nooby.. so does it matter that this is an Add-on domain in cpanel? I would ASSume not but i claim ignorance.

    i would suggest the reverse

/etc/localdomains : shld have the entry

/etc/remotedomains : shldnt have the entry.

If that is the case, email should work fine.

I don't see how this would matter,
With email generated locally, the server doesn't do a dns lookup by default and uses the /etc/localdomains file to determine whether the domain is local. If not in this list, a dns lookup will take place where it will find the remote MX and send email on to that.

The /etc/remotedomains file is a list of domains using remote MX and used when the localdomains file is regenerated (eg when doing /scripts/mailperm) to make sure the removed domains are not put back in.

I should point out that I assumed from the original post that the domain has had the MX entry changed so email for this domain is not handled on the same server as the dns and website are hosted.

the mail server is pointed to somevere else. so this is correct as clook has said:

    1. ADD the domain name to /etc/remotedomains

    2. REMOVE the domain name from /etc/localdomains

Default " I don't see how this would matter,"

I don't see how this would matter,
this statement was in regard to whether or not it mattered about the domain being an add-on domain...

i understand the remote/local domain question. sorry I had emphasis on wrong
