Question MX records and A records

I want to put some sites onto the server but CPanel only gives us the ability to put a fully qualifies URL as the MX record. I need to be able to put an IP address there so mail actually goes somewhere else.
Is this a job for an engineer at the web hosting company?

    Charlie,
I am not sure where you get this from but URLs do not work in DNS.
An MX record always needs to be a FQDN (fully qualified domain name). This could be domain.com or host.domain.com
And this FQDN needs to have an A record in DNS as well and not a CNAME record like some try to set up! MX always needs to point to A record!
So that should answer your question.
