My server crashes after running cpbackup for about 3 hours
Why does it crash?
Cause it wants to.
You need to check the logs to see if anything is showing up to indicate what or why this might be occuring.
Also you need to monitor top while the backup is running to make sure your not running out of memory.
Check for enough free space on the server and backup to allow the backup script to create the temp files it needs to do to complete the backup
Crashes is a general term, does it core dump, does it fall off your desk or out of its rack.
What part of it crashes exactly, and yes view the log file to see whats happening before the crashes.
go into ssh and type: ps aux
find out its memmory /cpu usage.
let us know what the log says.

Most liklly it overloads because of some huge account. You shuld look for someone using a lot of diskspace.
At what size is an account classifed as "huge"Originally Posted by bjarne
