Default mysql 5.0.21 - stable tree - buggy

The new mysql Version 5.0.21 for the stable tree has some big bugs - for example a vbb forum is enough that the mysql server is keep crashing.

    http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=19520
    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs3...iew&bugid=2449

There must be an immediately upgrade to 5.0.24.

Which version do they use in the release tree?

Thank you robert - I was searching this url.

They use the version 5.0.22 only for x86_64 systems.

    Update:

Please read the last posts in the bugtracker:
    http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=19618

They fixed this issue in the version 5.0.24 (5.0.22 was only a security update, 5.0.23 was never released). 5.0.22 won't help us at all ....

The 5.0.24 rpms are building and will be published after verification. There shouldn't be any problems and if so they will be released tomorrow for EDGE and CURRENT builds. Other builds will follow shortly.

I'm not sure if you see the dimension of this issue - you need only one vbb on the server and mysql crash several times per hour. Of course this not acceptable and there must be an immediately release for all branches like you did it for the buggy version 5.0.21.

Can we install the 5.0.24 version manually without going with edge/current?

Building these rpms takes quite a while. The 64 bit rpms are finished; just waiting on a few remaining 32 bit rpms. I'm still hoping these will be finished today.

You simply have to be patient. Anything cPanel releases has to go through QA and be shown to be stable otherwise they could end up breaking more than you're trying to fix.

You can, of course, install it yourself from source and disable MySQL updates through cPanel until cPanel are able to release new versions. You probably won't get support for custom builds, though.

    a) You don't need 24h to build your mysql rpm from the source

    b) QA - that is the reason why we stay at the stable tree ... but .. where was the QA if they decided to upgrade to 5.0.21 in the last 2 weeks?

Was nobody reading the changelog, bugtracker ...
