MySQL annoyance = server load issues!

This is really starting to bug me...

This process keeps running and it really is hurting the server in CPU... when it runs it makes the server load jump up to about 11.5

run this command for a while to know which database has the highest activity.

watch 'mysqladmin processlist'

Check in WHM -> MySQL Process List. It will show you database and userwise process list of MySQL.

Nothing out of the ordinary in the process list. Strange though...

I'll have to look further... I do have some Auto DJ servers set up.. But that is on an Xeon Dual Quad Core 2.83GHz... shouldn't spike the server at all.

Hi,

Is your mysql issue is resolved. Please make sure that the load is happening because of the mysql.

If the load issue still persists please execute the following commands on the server shell and check which process is taking the load

ps -eo pcpu,pid,user,args | sort -r -k1 | more

I am having the same issue and can't figure out why this is happening. I do see one account that has an active vbulletin message board, but wouldn't think it would cause a constant cpu load of 80% by mysql.

Depending on how many simultaneous users you get as traffic on the vbulletin site, that very much can cause high loads especially even more so if your MySQL server isn't configured, indexed, or optimized properly or if you have limited resources on the server to be able to handle higher traffic from a single point, memory, network card, CPU, etc

Going beyond the above, the number of accounts you have on the server outside the account with the vBulletin site also play a large factor as well. Then again, it is entirely possible you have some other additional issue or other factor going on with your server that may play into the end result on total load levels.

I would have to evaluate your server to be able to tell you more precisely what is going on but that should give you a general idea as to the directions in which to focus. I would also update your "my.cnf" to setup logging of slow queries which will help clue you in on unoptimized or more heavily loaded databases.

An out of date addon of some sort or busy chat / shoutbox script possibly?

I am sure everyone already knows this but if the "eximstats" tables haven't been cleared in a while, they can sometimes grow too large and overload the MySQL server. Just a side FYI.
