    Yep, Just did an upgrade to Cpanel Release 64 from 55 and got this error. This potentially is a major problem it seems. Hopefully a solution will be found shortly. Our server was working flawlessly for quite some time until this upgrade.

    Thanks.

    I just upgraded to Stable 65 from Release 64 and the Mysql error is still there. Looks like I'm stuck now.

    Try /sbin/service mysql stop", "ps auxwww | grep mysql", then kill -9 all the MySQL processes still running and then /sbin/service mysql start - does it work?

    the basic problem is that the link for /var/lib/mysql.sock to /tmp/mysql.sock is broken.

    create it and it should work.

    also as richy has said; killing all the zoombie or orphan mysql processes will also help.

    I have the same problem and no mysql.sock linking crap is working. Nor is resetting the password or restarting mysql in any format you can give me... that I've tried (my disclaimer to looking stupid).

    Anywho... mysql is down.. eximstats is down.. bind is down.

    And I can't update..

    root@host [/var/lib/mysql]# /scripts/updatenow
    rsync: getaddrinfo: rsync.cpanel.net 873: Temporary failure in name resolution
    rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(83)

    An Interesting predicament.

    ====================
    pstree -ap | grep mysql
    ====================
    kill all the processes that are displayed. And then try a restart.

    Ever since I upgraded to STABLE-65, MySQL has become very unstable. The load climbs to the roof and then crashes MySQL. Like now... it is doing to all of us here. Has any of you issued a ticket to CPanel?

    im on edge 124. absolutely no problems on fedora core 1.

    give bind a restart, if that still fails, edit /etc/resolv.conf so it uses external nameservers temporarily.

    then /scripts/updatenow it should update ur mysql.

    after that, service cpanel restart or the /etc/init.d/ equivalent. (that should restart eximstats)

    otherwise post here anymore problems
