    Default MySQL Help

I'm moving sites from a busted server. I can get the sites themselves to move correctly, but due to mysql not working correctly on old server, cannot get the tables from databases moved. I have the mysql backup tzr.gz file, but not siure how to get it into place witrh correct permissions, etc?

    Can someone please help?

all the files and directories under the directory

    /var/lib/mysql

    should be owned by mysql.mysql

once you copy the files from the old server.. restart your mysql in the new server before you try accessing any db. you might get 127 storage error.

Use scp command to transfer the zipped file from the old to the new server.

I think the best way is to get the dump of database (.sql file)
Transfer them with ftp and restore it. This has always worked for us...
you may find it difficult restoring .tar.gz files unless to are wel known to Linux.
