    Default mysql root password reset is not working

    I have used WHM to reset the root password. The script runs fine.
    From the command line when typing:
    mysql -u root -p
    Enter password: password

    The account still gets
    ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES)

    The reason that I trying to login as root is because other mysql accounts can not login either.

    RedHat 9.0 server
    less than a month old.

    Any advice would be great even refrences to mysql docs.

    Thanks!

    OK so the second script for changing mysql root password half way down the page in the mysql section works. Who would have know two things named the same did two different things.

    cheers;
