Default mysqld & stange cpu usage

    Hi all,

I have tried a search and can not find much on this problem.
Hope someone can help as im pretty new to all this.

Dedicated server has not been running well for a while now since upgrading MySQL as im running a NPTL based system (CentOS).

I'm getting high CPU usage and the process manager shows:
    /usr/sbin/mysqld --basedir=/ --datadir=/var/lib/mysql --user=mysql --pid-file=/var/lib/mysql/(domain-name.pid --skip-locking

Everytime i try and kill this process i get:
    The Process no longer exists

Yet its still there using the same PID.

Can anyone point me in the right direction with a little advice?

    Many thanks.

    Try a search for 'skip-locking'

There are many threads on this issue
