    Default MySQLi (mysql improved) ?

    Hello,

One of my customers asked me to install this php library on the server, it seems to be available from EasyApache.. but Im already using this:

MySQL (compile mysql support using the PHP bundled libraries)
MySQL of the system (compile mysql and mysqli (if checked) against system libraries)

    My question:
May this new mysql library (MySQLi) cause any conflict with the other two I mentioned before?

This is a RHE 5.2 + cPanel with latest R version.

    Thanks.

I have the exact same situation and question. I have a customer asking for MySQLi support and am unsure of the repercussions of adding it to the build. Any suggestions?

MySQLi will not interfere with the normal PHP MySQL extension. Only applications that explicitly use the MySQLi extension will use it.

Thanks Ken. I ran through EasyApache tonight and added MySQLi support (via exhaustive PHP options) and also took the opportunity to upgrade my PHP to 5.2.8 (looks like a pile of security fixes -- surprised there isn't a lot of chatter about this).

So far, MySQLi is working for the customer, and I'm not seeing any impact otherwise.

    Thanks again!

Why not just use EasyApache and add MySQLi support (via exhaustive PHP options)? Worked for me.

I'm using litespeed instead of apache.
