Need Help Backing Up My Server

Hello,

Have been reading for a bit and need some help.

I have a server that I am getting ready to do upgrades on, so pretty much I'm going from one 80GB HD to 2 500GB HD's and was told by the Datacenter that when they do the upgrades they wipe the whole server and would have to reinstall the OS and cpanel.

He said it would take a couple hours to do, and that I need to backup everything on the box (Literally Everything). Is there a way to do a backup of the whole server, then when it is back up with the new HD's upload the backup to the root directory and run it?

I want a tarball so that I can download it and have it on my local machine, then upload it and run the command via SSH.

Also I am trying to increase security on my server and cannot figure out the handlers and such, as I used to have phpsuexec and miss it as it worked great for me. I build php 5.2.X and was wondering what the handler should be DSO or SuPHP or what? Because when I choose suphp it gives internal 500 errors on all sites on the servers. As well I build in suexec and it is set to on. Is this how I have to run suexec?

I have CSF & LFD but what are some other things I could employ to make my servers more secure and such?

cPanel automatically creates backups by default in .tar.gz format. If you haven't modified this configuration, you may find the backups in /backup

As for SuPHP, typically Server 500 errors are a result of excessive permissions on a script (namely, global write permissions).
