neomail folders

Anybody have any ideas what would cause neomail to redirect to INBOX when selecting INBOX.Trash, INBOX.Sent or INBOX.Drafts however will load all custom folders created just fine. Already tried removing the .neomail-$mailaccount folder and logging back in, same problem. Also tried removing the INBOX.Trash file but still couldn't open it the folder in neomail. Tested with horde and was able to open the files fine.

I've narrowed this down, basically neomail can't properly open any folders with a . in the name. Anybody have any ideas on why this is?
