Yes. It was announced a little over a year ago that support for NeoMail would cease. It's since been phased out of the cPanel builds.
A search of the forum will provide you more details on this.
This is disappointing.
I just had a new server setup with Neomail missing. Customers are used to it and all of our tutorials mention it. How can I get it installed? (I searched the forum but don't see anything about how to do this.)
thanks,
BX
which build removes neomail? I would like to know cause we are still using neomail here and it's the only mail client that I manage to setup with neomail-bridge where I can use normal web port 80 to access. I even build some nice login page for it which I would not want to forego.
I believe that at this point, it's gone from all cPanel builds. A stable release has come out since it's removal, and since it's the last version to have changes passed down to it, it's likely not going to have it anymore either.
sorry..my mistake!!! I am using horde not neomail. Sorry for the mistake.

If you're using maildir (which all new cPanel builds for quite some time are) then Neomail is no longer supported or available.

Is Neomail being disabled in future CPanel builds or is this just part of MailDir?
I know MailDir has become the standard mail handling format for CPanel, and I know that Neomail is not compatible with MailDir. We still have quite a few servers that use mbox, but we are looking into converting them all over to MailDir sometime later down the road (yea, I'm slow to accept change). I've already been discouraging users from using Neomail because of the liklihood that the servers will be converted to MailDir. But I was not aware that future CPanel builds were going to disable Neomail completely. Is this really the case or are you just referring to the switch to MailDir as the standard format handler?
I suppose Neomail being disabled eventually is inevitable, but how far into future builds are we talking? Is it disabled in CPanel 10.9 (assuming you are using mbox)?
AFAIK, if you're still running mbox, then Neomail should continue to work. Nick has mentioned in the past that it would be deprecated in the future, so whether that means an enforced upgrade to maildir (and effectively the removal of Neomail) or not, I don't know. I'd be surprised if they did enforce an upgrade, but they may decide to drop cppop and that will be that.
You can, in fact, downgrade a clean system from maildir back down to mbox if you really (really) want to - but that would seem a huge step backwards.
You could try contacting them directly and ask if they have any hard plans for a forced move to maildir in the future.

Is there anything better than Horde and Squirrel ? They're lacking in features as well.
Although its still in beta and totally unsupported by cpanel, roundcube looks promising: http://www.roundcube.net/
I provide roundcube to all of my shared, reseller and resellers' customers. I've gotten nothing but outstanding feedback about it. No admin area though![]()
