It would be nice to have a webmail clent which could support features such as hotmail and yahoo mail has ... Squirrel mail has those features is is just all the plugin's have to be installed and configured.. Please do this it would really be very attractive if you were able to do this.
Yes addons in cpanel are a complete mess. Ever transfer an account with addons across servers? Talk about a nightmare afterwards!

David your problem with addons sounds similar to ours... let me guess you need to remove them manually from /var/named also?
In the cPanel Database Administraion, if you click to delete a database or a database user, there is absolutely no confirmation. It just deletes it instantly.
It would be great if the next version features database deletion confirmation before actually deleting, to guard against accidental clicks!

I think the "EXTREME Major issues" of X23 seems very good !
I will try THTTPD.
Allow end-users to modify DNS settings (Like PLESK). I'm sick of changing 'A' records for users.
Allow the 'mail management' area (www.domain.com/webmail) to be themed, just like the X skin. It's frustrating having the entire 'X' theme branded in the main control panel, to then have the cPanel branding in the mail area!
Make webmail more accessible. I understand why you need to login to change settings, but a domain-wide webmail page would be nice. Make an option in the control panel to set the 'default' webmail program, and make www.webmail.domain.com go straight there! This would be much quicker than logging in, clicking 'Horde' clicking login again. Especially when performing this many times per day.
Allow more than 8 character usernames! Easier said than done, I know, but it would be nice to have the username represent the domain somewhat, which once you get a lot of customers, becomes quite hard with 8 characters to work with.
Place cgi-bin, subdomains, cusom error messages, .htaccess outside of the public_html folder. (Might meet some resistance here) Many users accidentally delete any extra files they didn't create manually - hence all these extra files 'get in their way'.
'Custom buttons' in the control panel area to scripts or even just links. Obviously would need to be able to select an icon from a list or upload your own.
Ditch the default email account idea. Causes havoc if another user wants to have that email address, but isn't the admin. Is very rarely used, and requires a lot of extra explaining. If the admin wants an email address with the same name, they can create one.
Ability for reseller/admin to login to cpanel for any account!!! Either have their username/pass login to every domains control panel, or have a button under 'list accounts' in WHM that will log them into cpanel. It is ridiculous to have to ask a customer for their password to help fix a problem they are having. Admin/reseller has a right to be able to get into customer's control panel. (other than changing their password!)
Make the 'X' skin customisable, so admin can move the icons where they like, (put the most often used items at the top) or categorise them into 'email' and 'cgi/scripts' etc. Make the categories customisable.
If there is only one database, and a database user is created, add them to that database automatically, or make it a lot more clear the first time that this needs to be done.
Confirmation of all deletions! I am amazed at the number of things that can be deleted without even a confirmation screen (especially databases!!!)
More intuitive File Manager. Throw in all FTP options possible in here, sometimes it is necessary to do site updates with only access to a web browser, so this is a lifesaver.
Nice points Jeremy.

You can already login as any of your customers. Use their username and your password. This will identify you as the last logged on user though, so if you don't want them knowing you logged in you will need to modify a file after logging out.Originally posted by Jeremy Burge

My God you are right!! Would still be nice to be able to login to their cPanel account from WHM, but this is mostly what I was after. I wonder what else I haven't yet discovered! Thanks for the tip!![]()
Add'l modifications needed in cpbackup via FTP:
Errors need to be reported via email to sys administrator or sent to a special log for easy retrieval. Perhaps even set the script to test connection and paths upon enabling and report errors continually until corrected or disabled.
eg:
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)>>> user cpbackup
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)<<< 331 Password required for cpbackup.
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)>>> PASS ....
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)<<< 230 User cpbackup logged in.
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)>>> TYPE I
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)<<< 200 Type set to I
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)>>> MKD cpbackup
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)<<< 550 cpbackup: Permission denied
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)>>> MKD cpbackup/daily
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)<<< 550 cpbackup/daily: No such file or directory
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)>>> CWD cpbackup/daily
Net::FTP=GLOB(0x819bf64)<<< 550 cpbackup/daily: No such file or directory
Additionally the script needs to allow us to override the following message with a simple yes/no:
Backup is up to date
We should not have to edit the script to a specific date, delete the folder or wait a another day, week or month simply to force testing.
It would also be nice to select the accounts we wish backed up as we do with multiple transfers.
Last but not least the script does not automatically perform weekly/monthly backups when multiple days are selected.
Restoration of remote ftp backups needs to look for the backups on the remote server not locally. Failing this consideration we would have to manually copy the backup(s) from the remote ftp server and place them in the local directory cpbackup is looking for it.

Bring back openwebmail.
IMO it is better than the 3 webmail apps that come with cpanel currently.
I really don't care what features you guys want to put in. As long as you get a GOOD bandwidth monitoring system, not just for outbound traffic.
I'm pushing 4times more (thats a lot) then cpanel registers.. I don't plan to pay for my clients bandwidth a lot longer
Oh, and get the Debian production stable, i cant imagine any major company wanting to use Fedora for their production servers, best option now is FreeBSD.
I have to say if basic stuff like bandwidth monitoring isn't completed within a descent timeframe I'm out of Cpanel, even though i've been using it for years now. I Reckon it's great you have a lot of new features in the last releases but it's about time the developers start concentrating on the little vital things (bandwidth isn't really cheap in the Netherlands)
I'm interested, what made openwebmail so good? (never used it) Were you able to access its page without first logging into cPanel, then into mail?Originally posted by MaxRisk

Openwebmail is Neomail on steroids. It took off where Neomail stopped. It has some nice features like the ability to view and compose html emails, webdisk functions and much more.Originally posted by Jeremy Burge

I have not been able to get it working on a cpanel server. I have had it running in the past on ensim and cobalt servers.
Cpanel used to have it but removed it because of a bug many years ago. Like i said previously it blow away the 3 webmail packages that cpanel currently bundles.
