    Exclamation New install has boatloads of problems..

    We have over 20 cpanel servers all running 10.8.1-C112 (we're not game enough to move them off it), and today we got a new server.

    Did the install same way as normal. CentOS 4.3 etc.

    Install seemed to go fine.

    I notice something was strange as soon as I went into WHM the first time, it's running 10.8.2-R63 and all the entries in the initial "basic WHM setup" page were ALL blank.

    I filled them all in, all seemed fine after now.

    Now the problems start:

    1) It's running ProFTPD, not PureFTP. I clicked "Change to PureFTP", says it was installed, but it does nothing.

    2) Tried to do a cPanel Update to latest current build but get this:

    Does anyone know whats gone wrong? I've never seen cPanel do anything like this before.

    Mysql is failing and generating tons of errors on centos 3.7. damn!

    To be more specific, there are some kind of out of memory errors reported by mysql. But there is enough memory.

    Well, the error at the start of the update output is:

    Code:
    Can't locate File/Spec.pm in @INC
    This might indicate a missing Perl module, given the path it lists for @INC.

    What do you get for:

locate Spec.pm
    and have you tried reinstalling Perl?

    CPANEL INSTALLATION IS NOT WORKING ON BRAND NEW RESTORE SERVERS.

    I tried reinstalling PERL, but it gives the same errors as the cpanel update.

    I've tried upgrading to a number of latest versions but it's not doing a thing.

    Can anyone from cPanel shed some light on this? It's very annoying having a server sitting there not being used.

    If you want help from cPanel you'll need to log a ticket with them through your cPanel license provider.

    I'm not seeing any problems. If File::Spec is missing it would suggest an incomplete server installation of perl before cPanel is installed as that's a standard perl module.

    Either way, if you install that perl module in the normal way from cpan you should then be able to continue.

    One thing that doesn't make sense is that you say this is a new server, but your output shows this:

    Which suggests that you have 7 versions of perl installed. That seems mighty odd for a new server. I'd suggest you wipe it and install it on a clean OS build which that clearly isn't.

    Ya. The last install I did a couple of days ago has quite a number issues. But if you trace the error and fix them individually, you will get a working cpanel.

    Start with the first:

    cpan install File::Spec

    or if you have working /scripts

    /scripts/perlinstaller File::Spec


    just work through it and you can get it working. It's not what I like to do but ya, whenever cpanel do a lot of changes at a shot, lots of things get broken

    (example now I got this error: Unknown License File Version on existing servers )

    Then you need to install that perl module, i.e. File::Spec from cpan.
