    Question Newbie install question

I have installed RedHat 9 and am installing Cpanel as per the documentation.

It seems to do everything thats needed but then it gets to "Reparing Common Problems (this might take a while) ..... "

and then it just sits there???

    Have I missed something??

Should I do something?? Seems I could let it sit there for 10 hours and nothing else happens???

Thank you for your soon to be forthcoming assistance.

Nobody else, nor any of the admins know what this could be caused by???

I have found no reference to this in the docs.

Thanks for all your help, ahead of time.

I am having exactly the same problem (install has hung at Repairing common problems... for several hours). I have tried reinstalling the os (redhat 9) and also another verion of the os (redhat 8) and have also swapped out the RAM as per supports advise.

If anyone has overcome this issue or has any more advise please reply,

    Unhappy

I have now also had a failed install with redhat 7.3 but it fails with this error message,

    Message from syslog@cpanel
    cpanel kernel : assertion failure in journal_commit_transaction () commit.c:5: "buffer_jdirty(bh)"

Well I am glad I am not the only one. I thought I must have missed something obvious as I have had no responses at all, been completely ignored as a matter of fact.

Good to see I am not alone

well guys im having the exact same problem....
just hangs at repairing common problems.... let this sit for 24hrs and nothing...still going.... iv re-installed redhat 9 five times and also tried mandrake 9.1 as well with the same results... changed ram.... memtest... the works same results.

    Any ideas?

I was getting ready for purchase but wanted to be sure if this was a good decision. after all this wasted time it looks like im better off going to a windows platform...

linux and cpanel... must be all hype or is it some big secret and I thought microsoft was the bad guy....

As you can see we have been ignored by the entire cpanel community. Seems we have been nicely told to RTFM.

Well I have, I see no solution and have had zero luck finding docs on using cpanel from inside of RH if what we have had happen comes up.

I am still trying, I know this is a good product but obviously the forums suck as a support option. Hopefully when we purchase we are given a higher priority as currently it is nill.

This is a more or less a user forum for us to help each other, most people won't respond if they've never had the problem so they don't know what to do, if you need real support you will need to submit a support ticket, especially if your purchasing new because they wanna make that $$sale$$ lol

Just for everyones information, to solve this issue in my case, i just had to use the "latest install" package. The specific packes per platform didnt work.

Hey man that is great. Fantastic.

    I have a question though.

What one of these is the one you refer to??

    http://layer1.cpanel.net/

I am unsure of which one of these items you are refering too.

    Thank you

I just followed the instructions at the top of the page in the end,

Latest Builds: (for a quick linux install just run the follow commands as root: cd /home;mkdir cpins;cd cpins;wget layer1.cpanel.net/latest;sh latest )

instead of the specific links posted below it, hope it works for ya m8,

    Try doing this:

    rm -rf /usr/local/cpanel/cpanel
    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/upcp
    /scripts/exim4
    /scripts/updateuserdomains2
    /scripts/initsuexec
    /scripts/mailperm
    service cpanel stop
    service cpanel start
    del named.conf
    cp named.conf.killeddns named.conf
    /scripts/restartsrv bind
    /scripts/rebuildnamedconf > /etc/named.conf
    /scripts/restartsrv bind
    /scripts/easyapache - - - Select option 5 when prompted - - -

This will take about an hour or so, and please, dont run fixcommonproblems anymore, it is hanging on the fixquotas script. There is a better way to do that script that is not located in the scripts directory, and it is: quotacheck -acugvfm
