Newbie -- > mail.Mydomain.com Not Working

Hello ,
I set up an accout under Cpanel. I can log into the www.mydomain.com/cpanel .
I setup some pages and everything works well.
I created an e-mail accout and When i try to connect to mail.mydomain.com I get an error in outlook
I also tried telnet with port 110.
Is it something DNS related
should I enable a service ?
I can check other mail servers under the same network // computer so this is probably not a network firewall problem.

what do you get when you ping mail.mydomain.com on your local terminal? Tried with domain.com as both the SMTP / POP3 if mail.mydomain.com does not work out for you.
