NFS /home Mount?

I have been thinking about building a dedicated file server and using an nfs mount from several cpanel machines for the /home directory.

1 file server | 2TB Raid 5 NFS server
3 cpanel head ends | /home mounted to the file servers raid

The potential problem I see with this is that cpanel wont be able to verify that /home/john exists on the NFS mount and therefore disallow new accounts with that name.

Any thoughts?

Why would cPanel not be able to verify that /home/john exists? the directory is there...

Does it go by the directory tree or the userlist?

I am fairly sure it goes by the user list. I've had a Load Balanced 1.5TB NFS Mount for ~8 months without any hickups.

The only thing I haven't solved (which I honestly haven't tried) is the quota issues.

but it is possible that if somone tried to create the user "bob" and /home/bob already exists it would cause some problems right?

Also, how is the performance?
