NSD fails - won't restart after DNS zone edit

seems running NSD as the nameserver has some major issues still..

its not restarting after any DNS zone edits / new account additions.

when it tries to restart, it gives an error:

Code:

rndc: connect failed: connection refused
named is stopped

Not sure what is going on here, but it is killing the sites on this server (page not found errors, obviously)
Is anyone else having similar issues? a fix?

WHM 11.23.2 cPanel 11.23.4-R26138
REDHAT Enterprise 4 i686 on xen - WHM X v3.1.0
xen? no.. its STANDARD RHEL4

EDIT: now it appears no nameserver is responding to requests.. effectively taking the server down.

EDIT 2: it seems that when NSD is installed, its not setting / adding the proper listen IPs to the config file.. adding correct (or all) IPs seemed to solve the not responding to requests noted in the above edit.
this is something you (cPanel) may want to check in to.

EDIT 3: A quick question as well.. in WHM, the restart DNS server link, links to https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2087/scripts/resbind (BIND) shouldn't it be to NSD? or is that just a generic link?

this is something you (cPanel) may want to check in to.

NSD will be fully supported in cPanel 11.24.

Some of the issues you mentioned are fixed in CURRENT and EDGE.

Ok we're running the latest current

yet can't get ANY DNS server to run - any ideas what to do next? (well, NSD says its running, but we can't resolve any of the domains on this box)

this is effectively taking this server off-line.

we have decided to go back to bind for now.. we would rather have the server up at this time..
