Exclamation Odd CPOP behavior - check it out

It seems that the main* account for each domain on my server will no longer function as a POP account.

My users can check them mail with Outlook or Horde and they don't find any messages... but they have mail waiting for them in /home/user/mail/user/inbox file

Can anyone verify this behavior on their servers?

I'm perplexed at the moment... so any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    * When I say "main" I mean the unix username for the domain

    Default psuedo solution

Evidently cppop is looking in the wrong file for the users mail.

Here's what I found when I telnet to the mail server:

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    +OK POP3 [DarkORB cppop 3.0] at [xx.xx.xx.xx]
    user USERHERE
    +OK Need a password
    pass XXXX
+OK You have 0 messages totaling 0 octets from /home/USERHERE/mail/inbox
    ------------------------------------------------------------

Shouldn't it be checking in /home/USERHERE/mail/USERHERE/inbox??

You need to login as user@domain.com if you want it to look at /home/USERHERE/mail/DOMAIN/USERHERE/inbox

    Thanks for the reply bdraco

... but for some reason I can not authenticate when using user@domain.com. From telnet I get the response: -ERR Username/Password Mismatch perhaps user@yourdomain.com ?

These domains are using a shared IP address... so perhaps that plays into the problem?

Let me know what you think,

    Thanks

    Webmail horde is working ok.

will see how this thread goes today and submit a support ticket if no resolution.

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'Accounts MyServer', Server: 'mail.myserver.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Bad login', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

    Ok issue fixed.

for some reason my ipop3 file was corrupted.

copied one from another server and

    Rebooted.

Weird. I've had a few clients tell me that they can't check IMAP or POP accounts.

A simple restart of the service fixed the imap issue, still awaiting a response on the POP issue.

I am also starting to get these weird pop problems also. On a main user.

I tried to telnet domain and log in

    user login
    pass password

    and it just hangs...

I can definately see the pop.lock file get created, been waiting a couple minutes ...

So I am guessing authentication worked other wise why the lock file?

Only 7 megs in inbox that I can see.

Further more, I tried /scripts/fixpop and I got this:

Cannot find the owner of , try rebuilding /etc/userdomains first with /scripts/rebuilduserdomains at ./fixpop line 26.

Then I cannot find rebuilduserdomains in the /scripts directory ....

Ok, I saw like 20 to 30 process of pop for this user, killed them all and it seemed to work. Never seen this before, not sure if this is what everyone else was going though...
