Question Offering subdomains for 1 domain over 2 servers.

What is the best way to go about doing this with both servers running cPanel/WHM? If I use the cluster DNS option will this work?

    Howdy,

What's your purpose? Do you want to host the same domain in more than one place? Or are you looking host the DNS in more than one place? Or both?

    Thanks!

I run a free web hosting company and offer users a free subdomain for 1 of my domains. I'm currently hosting about 1000 cPanel accounts on one server but I would like to purchase additional servers instead of upgrading the current one... is it possible to continue offering subdomains to new users on another server without having to manually edit the DNS?

Absolutely! As far as setting up accounts go, there is really no difference
from subdomains as domains go the way you are using them and as long
as you have the correct IP setup for each server where the account is
located, there is no problem using the same base domain to host different
hosting accounts on different servers as subdomains.

(We do the same thing and ran the longest running free host more
than 10 years running on more servers than I could count like that
on both Plesk and Cpanel based servers through the years)

It would make things easier and there are some advantages running
a DNS cluster configuration when between the servers when doing
what you ask but it is not absolutely necessary and no you don't
have to manually edit all your zone files for the second server either.

Pretty much a piece of cake to set this up. Like I said early, the
whole key is to think of your subdomains off of your main primary
free hosting service domain as domains themselves.

If you want to chat, send me a private message and I'll see about
coordinating more with you about the subject.
