open_basedir restriction not working for HTTPS

Hi,

I have never had a problem like this before but now Google gives some interesting results due to our Clients list on our website.

The problem is that I have enabled open_basedir restriction and allowed an exception for our domain only.

So when I type http://www.mydomain.com/~userID it takes me right to that page as my domain is allowed to use open_basedir.

When I type http://www.otherdomain.com/~userID it will tell me that we have a open_basedir restriction and it will not show the website.

BUT IF I TYPE https://www.otherdomain.com/~userID it will take in and complain only for the certificate.

What I want is when I have an open_basedir restriction to work for both http and https.

Any ideas as to where the problem could be?
