    Default Operating System

I decided to start this poll so that people can see what OS others are using and what OS they may want to run. When clients ask us what OS we recommend we tell them, but really besides trusting our recommendation they have no other way to actually see what is being used out there. I hope this poll will help users choose a OS that is commenly run so that others out there may choose a OS that is Less problems with running cpanel.

Please dont start a flame war here with what OS is better, simply choose the OS you use or are recommending these days. Obviously many of you guys are running all kinds of diffrent OS's and/or Versions, so ask your self this. If you had a new machine that you where going to install cpanel on and host customers out of what OS would you put on it.

    Thanks Guys.

Either CentOS or RHE. I voted for CentOS though. :-) If you can get RHE it might be worth getting.. :d

I voted for RHE if you can get it as you will get OS support. Otherwise, I yoo would go for CentOS for a cPanel environment. I couldn't recommend *BSD simply because cPanel seems to be written for Linux and then wedged into the *BSD environment

Voted for FreeBSD as it is more stable and by far more secure than the others. Now I know that there are people that will question cPanel under FreeBSD, but I have not had any major problems with it on any of my servers.

CentOS for me. I had no end of trouble with Fedora Core, but CentOS has been much better.

I previously used Redhat Linux, Slackware(Not Supported) and FreeBSD with cPanel. I did like the stability that FreeBSD included while cPanel was running on it. Slackware did take a while to configure everything myself, and get everything to work properly. Redhat Linux had problems after couple weeks of using cPanel on the system. Bind quit working, as it was not even showing any difficulties with it physically. I ended up installing Fedora2, and have not had any issues with it yet. Just thought id' throw in my 10 cents.
