I'm just upset that its very hard to figure out what version of any script CPanel installs.

If you would install an example shop, and run it.. you would find (if you upgraded sufficiently) that OSCommerce IS 2.2.

ANd actually sat down and went through the scripts (and played with them too as examples....) :-D

Well, it is Oscommerce 2.2 CVS, but there is no way of telling which daily snapshot release. At least, I can't figure out a way.
It is definitely not 2.2 MS1 (Milestone 1). In the includes/application_top.php file, I find
By the configuration of the database, I suspect it is pre MS1.// Define the project version
define('PROJECT_VERSION', 'osCommerce 2.2-CVS');

The point is CPanel should state which version it uses in whm. It doesn't tell you what version of IBB or phpBB uses (until recently).

Actually, the point is... in a perfect world DarkOrb would pay more attention to 'all' details and provide such information as you describe. Since it is un-realistic to think we are in a perferct world and, in some cases, it is much easier to figure out things ourselves. This, I do believe, is what tAzMaNiAc was trying to point out -- in a very direct sort of way.
DarkOrb appears to be hiring more people so maybe things like the above will get attended to?
A perfect world is coming, but it sure won't be created by mankind.

Well, I really do care. I am posting over at oscommerce to see if the snapshot date is imbedded in any of the files. That way we could tell what we have.

Just look at the date at the top of /includes/application_top.php and you will get a good idea of the snapshot date...

Thank you, thank you.
Sometimes I just don't know how I function, when I miss things so obvious.
Here is the date: 2002/11/23
Can anyone else confirm whether we all get the same date snapshot on all cpanel6 oscommerce installs?
Also, in WHM is stays "Keep it updated" in referrence to OsCommerce. What does that mean? When will it update and will it update all the stores on the server automatically or just the main one that is used for the new installs.

Someone else may want to confirm this, but I believe it updates the 'main' installation on the server.... thus, any NEW installs of osCommerce will use the newer version but previously installed versions will remain intact.Originally posted by tntmom5

Since there is much customization that can be done with osCommerce, it would really cause problems if each store was updated (and had their files overwritten) each time there was a new osCommerce update.

cpanel has the "Upgrade shop".... but.... uh, it doesn't seem to upgrade anything.
It's a great feature, allowing us to upgrade individual shops, if it, uh, worked.
