Outlook (Express) AutoConfig breaks Outlook 2003 settings

Just a warning not to use the Outlook (Express) AutoConfig in cpanel if you plan on using it with Outlook 2003 - it will mess up your account settings in Outlook!

Perhaps you could tell us exactly what it does and how it does it. Might be a bit more helpful.

Well, after I tried it on 3 machines the existing accounts seem to appear more than once in Outlook 2003. On top the account I tried to add with the cpanel Outlook AutoConfig option did not show up at all. Looking at the reg file it seems that the format is uses is older and that might be the reason it does not work with the latest Outlook. I did not test it with the latest Outlook Express though! (the reg file has two sections in it).

I think they call it Outlook Express auto config for a reason.

InfoPro,
they actually call it Outlook (Express) AutoConfig and that means for Outlook and Outlook Express. And you are right, for a reason but not the one you seem to understand.

(Express) means both? Since when? I'm just curious. Not doubting that you have a point, but I don't see it here.

The registry key thats has to do with Outlook (Express) is different than Outlook (2003).
(as mentioned earlier)

that is why the reg file has to separate keys in it if you look closely ;-)
