    Default Parked Domain / Redirect Scenario

    Hi,

    I hope I can explain this OK...

    1) I have an account setup for a client, lets call it
    maindomain.com

    2) I have a bunch of domains parked on that, such as
    maindomain.ca
    altdomain.com
    altdomain.ca
    altdom3.com
    altdom3.ca
    altdom4.com
    altdom4.ca

    Now, this all works as expected, no problem. They all resolve to the same site, yet retain their own domain names in the URL.

    Where the problem begins is when I try to add redirects on a few of these. For instance, although I want all of these to point to the same site and to retain their unique names in the URL, I would like some of them to redirect to subfolders. For example,

    maindomain.ca
    altdomain.com --> altdomain.com/quotes
    altdomain.ca --> altdomain.ca/quotes
    altdom3.com
    altdom3.ca
    altdom4.com --> altdom4.com/quotes
    altdom4.ca --> altdom4.ca/quotes

    No matter what I put in the redirection field, I can't seem to get this to work. I get the 'too many redirects' sorts of errors.

    I can get these to work...
    altdomain.com --> maindomain.com/quotes
    altdomain.com --> maindomain.com/quotes.php

    but not these...
    altdomain.com --> altdomain.com/quotes
    altdomain.com --> altdomain.com/quotes.php

    My client really wants the unique names to be maintained in the URL. I don't care if I achieve this in cPanel/Parked Domains/Redirection or in an .htaccess file, or in the httpdf.conf file or any other way.

    Any advice?

    No thoughts? Is it really that odd of a scenario?

    For the ones you want to point to a folder, why not set them up as addon domains instead of parked domains?

    Hi Uber

    Thanks for the input. I gave that a try, but it won't work. What I didn't explain, is that in this case /quotes is not actually a physical folder. It is a mod_rewrite that actually goes to /index.php?module=pagesmith&id=xx

    Maybe what I need to change is the default index page in the httpd.conf entry for these domains, so that they point to index.php with the arguments?
