Question Partial WHM transfer with "same" NS domain working parallel

    Hi,

The task is to transfer some sites from my current WHM to new one. For start I need to transfer 30 domains and after 2 weeks the rest but keeping the same NS domain. So for some days half domains will work from current server and the rest from new. Can this period have ns0.domain.com (current) and setup ns1.domain.com (new) NS? That means that I have to setup same domain name (domain.com) to new server?

    My current server is:

    srv.domain.com
    ns0.domain.com

    My new will be:

    srv1.domain.com
    ns1.domain.com

    Thanks.

You could just change the A record IP for the domain to use the new machine and not change the nameservers over until you've moved all the domains. If you cluster both the machines together to use the nameservers on the old machine, then move the nameservers to the new machine and uncluster them after the propagation completes, you shouldn't have to add a new nameserver during the process.

Changing nameservers can take a longer propagation time over changing the A record IP for a domain on the existing nameservers.

Yea this is the best solution, really forgot the clustering.

    Thanks.
