/ partition running out of space

Hi,

The / partition of my server is running out of space.

It is a 49 gb parition space, but a du -sh /* is showing ~ 30 gb, and i can't find where the remaining is gone!

/backup and /home are mounted on a diffrent partition of course. As you can see, we are very far away from the 49 G !!!

it seems that you have more than enough space from / to use but it is not when used df to check on it.

something might wrong, I prefer you get the PM to me for more help.

Hi mick

I just looked up for core files and i didn't find anything. I freed some 1,5 Go by moving some directories to the /home partition and then creating sym link but it is not the best solution as the / partition will be at 100% in the next few hours.

It's really strange, and don't know what to do

Any other idea ?

Perhaps you may try to reboot the server or seek for cPanel support.

Where are your /var and /usr and other logs located? Im guessing it is located in / partition. Usually its the log files that fills up the space. I have a separate partition for /var and /usr so Id be able to monitor them.

cPanel bandwidth files are huge. You should check out their tutorial. Basically the directory needs to be symlinked to a directory in /home or if you do not want the bandwidth to run you can turn it off

try doing du -h --max-depth=1 this would give the space being used by each directory and there in you can clean the system or remove unnecessary files.
