Perl -> Class::Date slows things down?

I updated apache today to version 1.3.33 with /scripts/easyapache. Thing is, some perl scripts are suddenly teasingly slow! When I tail the apache error_log it shows the following warning:

Cannot find the XS part of Class:ate, using strftime from POSIX module.

This warning shows up every time I open up the perticular perl script (which, until today, never gave any problems). I've tried to fix the issue by running /scripts/perlinstaller Class:ate, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem.

Is anybody here experiencing the same problem, and if so, did you find the solution to it yet?

Have you tried forcing a re-install of the module?

perl -MCPAN -e shell
force install Class::Date

Yes, I did, but that doesn't help either..
