Default permissions issues with public_html (not apache, using litespeed)

I have a customer who's public_html keeps losing its permissions.

    The directory goes to:

    d--------- 6 user nobody 4096 Jan 15 21:41 public_html/

    I then try:

    #chmod 755 public_html/
chmod: changing permissions of `public_html/': Operation not permitted

Fiddle about for a bit.. do this:
    # chattr -i public_html
    then:
    # chmod 755 public_html/

    # ls -al
    [...]
    drwxr-xr-x 6 user nobody 4096 Jan 15 21:41 public_html/

The www symbolic link still works.

This has happened 2 days in a row, and seems to occur when the site is a little busier than normal.

I am using litespeed not Apache, otherwise there is nothing else going on. It is a wordpress site. Nothing abnormal in the logs that I can see.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

It did an update a couple of times but I will run it manually - the customer is running a wordpress site in it, that is quite busy.. and it seems to occur when there is high usage on their site. There are quite a few other WP sites on the server, so unless its specifically something related to one of their plugins... but then, why on earth world a WP plugin remove the permissions from the public_html folder? seems a bit weird..
