    Angry php4.4.4 Zend 3 & Apache problem

    Hi Yah,

    Got a real major problem with the latest version of PHP/Zend & Apache on this one server.

    Running the latest stable version of cPanel

    1. Upgraded to PHP4.4.4 via WHM Apache Update
    2. Prior to upgrade server was running with PHP4.4.3 & Zend 2.5.10 (I think)
    3. After upgrade to PHP4.4.4 problems with php and errors stating Zend wasn't compatible with latest version of PHP ?????
    4. Upgraded Zend to Version 3 with the install zend script from shell
    5. The install script for zend uses the following php.ini:- usr/local/Zend/etc/php.ini & it added the following lines to it after install:-

    zend_extension=/usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager.so
    zend_extension_ts=/usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager_TS.so

    Apache shows it's running in top and sites using zend optimised scripts all work okay, then after a while Apache craps out and cannot be restarted manually or via whm. To resolve the problem I have to go to the php.ini file and comment out the lines as shown:

    ; zend_extension=/usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager.so
    ; zend_extension_ts=/usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager_TS.so

    Restart Apache and away it goes...but now all customers sites using Zend optimised scripts stop working - example is http://www.letmebid.co.nz

    I'm at a total loss here now as to what the problem maybe, can anyone shed some light onto this please.

    Going back on my notes it seems it was Zend that screwed everything up. The server was already running php4.4.4 & zend 2.5.10 - then eacellerator was playing up after upgrade to 4.4.4 as it was coming up with incompatible errors with current version of zend. So zend/eacellerator was upgraded by using the installzend script from /scripts - which when checked in the early hours of this morning was at ver. 3.0.0...

    Prior to downgrading php & zend I also commented out eacellerator from php.ini to ensure it wasn't that, then commented out zend and server ran okay.

    Ended up after doing some more searching changed the script so it would load up zend 2.6.2

    So basically downgraded php to 4.4.3 and back to zend 2.6.2 and so far servers seems stable. Nothing showing up in the error logs either, so I'll leave server for today then tomorrow upgrade back to 4.4.4 & leave Zend as is and then test eacellerator.

    For php v4.4.4 you need to up Zend to v3.0.1 v3.0.0 was a mess of bugs.

    Edit /scripts/installzendopt and change the version number to 3.0.1
