Smile Please with perl upgrade 5.6 to 5.8

Please could someone tell me how to upgrade perl 5.6.1 to Perl 5.8. I have a module that requires that version.

I’m running WHM 8.5.4 cPanel 8.5.4-R72 , RedHat 7.3 - WHM X v2.1.1 and I’ve selected ( Allow perl updates from rpm based linux vendors ) in the tweak setting.

    I tried every upgrade option.

    Update Server Software
    Update System Software
    Update Backend Scripts

    &
    Upgrade to Latest Version

I’m sure its simple , Please help! (beg, beg, beg, )

    Thanks in advance,

I believe you have to update apache to the new kernel to get the newest version of perl.

Also im running the latest stable build. so it should be available on your build. but I believe you have to get to 1.3.29 apache to get the newest version of perl.

Just run update apache from WHM under Software.

sorry but on the version of WHM and Cpanel u use

    goto Tweak Settings

and make sure allow "Allow perl updates from rpm based linux vendors"

    is checked
then run update the updates again including easy apache.

    sorry about that.

    I forgot about that.

    That should do it.

if that doesn't work let me know

Thanks for the quick reply, I changed that setting and I still get ignoring perl when I do a system update. Go figure

    hmm..

if you need 5.8.2 you can always goto perl.com and download it and do a manual install.

otherwise see if upgrading to the stable build 3 updates your perl.
if it upgrades it then you can revert back to your R72.

    BTW.

on your build R72 do you use XSKIN, and does it work properly?

I find that I have to use the vertex skin on build R72 as skin X wont load.

BTW, I tried to downgrade just now, all looked good then at the end I get that I am on 5.8 still:

    perlmod--Install done
    root@server2 [/usr/src/wp-cpup]# rpm -q perl
    perl-5.8.0-88
    root@server02 [/usr/src/wp-cpup]# perl -v

This is perl, v5.8.0 built for i386-linux-thread-multi
(with 1 registered patch, see perl -V for more detail)

Has any one been able to downgrade?
