    Post prevent overwrite of httpd.conf

Hello, sorry if this is a total newbie question. I have done a bit of searching around (including on this board) and can't quite figure this out. i have a VPS which has cpanel/whm loaded on it. I don't really use cpanel at all and I use whm for just a couple of dns related things. I manage the apache instance myself as well as the httpd.conf. Occasionally cpanel (or what appears to be cpanel) overwrites my httpd.conf, or appends things to the end of it. One of the things it appends is a vhost which ends up breaking all my other vhosts. I'd like this to stop, any ideas on where i can start? I'd rather not shut it all down entirely, and I am interested in learning more about it, but I just dont think i want it managing my httpd.conf. thank you.

    Hi par,

Since cPanel is already installed on the server, you might as well use it to manage apache or you will always run into problems like the one you are experiencing now.

There are ways of adding directives that will not get overwritten after updates, etc...

    Good luck!
