Problem with account list

I'm new to WHM and was creating a few accounts for friends.
When I created the accounts they showed up fine, but then I logged into them. Now, they don't show up on the account list, but I can still see the site. =/
I've read other boards about this and they always say to access /etc/ or whatever and I don't know how to do that.
Can anyone help?

Perhaps your httpd.conf file is back to default for some reason? Check if it's not containing your site(s) records, and roll to a backup configuration file...

I dont knwo if this is related but on a couple of servers we have just upgraded to S48 the account list went blank and they weretn being broken down in pages of 30

click on ALL and they are magically all there again...

here is the fix cpanel provided for us :

"rm /var/cpanel/locale/en.gdbm" seems to make it work, but this file will be regenerated the next time cPanel is updated and break it again.
