Problem with cPanel file manager extractor

Hi,

I am running cPanel 11, and everytime I try to use the file manager extractor for my zip file in /test/ it changes the permissions on the /test/ folder which I had set to 755 to 770 (it also changes the folders in the zip file to 770), and it changes all of the files in the zip file to 640. Which causes all files and folders in that directory to be blocked with a 403 access restricted error. I have used a the file manager extractor before, but on cPanel 10, and it never did this. Is there some sort of security setting that is changing the permissions on the files and folders after I extract them? Because I have used the exact same file on other servers (but on cPanel 10), and I have never had this problem. Is this an error or do I have a setting wrong?

By the way, I am using CentOS 4, MySQL 4, Apache 1.3, PHP 5, WHM and cPanel 11.

Have you tried using the "Legacy File Manager" in your cPanel? Not sure the new one is up to snuff yet.

No, I haven't. Actually, I have never heard of the "Legacy File Manager", where can I learn more/download it? I did a google search, but it just returned a bunch of weird stuff that had nothing to do with cPanel.

Running CURRENT cPanel11 there are two file managers. The old one and the new one. Not sure about STABLE, haven't run that in a long time.

STABLE is still on version 10 therefore there is no Legacy File Manager yet (as it has not become legacy yet on that build).

There's a trick to it but I can't remember. Something like holding down the shift key while extracting. Right now I'm searching for it because I can't remember and I need to overwrite for a Joomla update. freaking cPanel!

My solution was to not use the .zip file for the update but instead use the .bz2 file for the update (Joomla core team provides multiple file formats to update- thx gawd). .
