    Default Problem with cpanel/whm update

when i attempt to upgrade, it says this at a certain point during install

Testing package set / solving RPM inter-dependencies...

    Preparing
    Installing /var/spool/up2date/httpd-2.0.46-44.ent.i386.rpm...
There was a fatal RPM install error. The message was:
There was a rpm unpack error installing the package: httpd-2.0.46-44.ent

I was wondering how i could figure out the problem? where does cpanel store its logs ?

nevermind, i figured it, it needed the apache logs dir renaming for some reason, then it all installed fine.

You're using apache 2 with cpanel? I thought Apache 2 wasn't supported/didn't work with cpanel?

no man, it just downloads that for dependencies as far as i can figure out.

im using 1.3.33, you can use apache 2 as it says in the apache build but i chose not to.

    oh... i see...
Well, if you're using cpanel's apache, then you probably shouldn't be installing redhat's rpm version of apache. It could break things... overwriting cpanel's apache files, configuration, etc.

It sounds like you changed cpanel's default location for apache logs to the location that redhat's rpm wanted???

You may have broken something there. Try restarting apache from WHM and see if it restarts successfully without complaining.

I have apache 2 and related modules added to the package skip list for up2date so it doesn't install the rpms automatically for those packages.
