    Default Problem installing Cpanel/WHM

    The install get's almost finished, then stops here...

    ==> Cleaning up temporary files...done.
    ==> Running installer...
    cppop: no process killed
    ==> Verifying archive integrity...OK
    ==> Uncompressing Cpanel-6.4.0-RELEASE_19...........................................

    Broadcast message from root (Wed May 7 15:05:30 2003):

    Cpanel Layer 2 Auto-Update Commencing
    ==> Installing......-
    ==> Running post install scripts....rsync
    rsyncing cpanel binaries

    And never gets any further. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

    How long do you leave it for? It can take quite a while and appear to stop all together...
    Apache to die or not to die, that is the question...

    The first time I ran the install, I was off work the next day, and when I came in the day after, it still was sitting there. I could not log into the server though, so I restarted it.

    I deleted the /home/install directory, and started over.

    This is the second time around, I left it sit for about half an hour.

    I see files show up in the /usr/local/cpanel/install directory, but that happens right away, and doesn't seem to go anywhere.

    I did some ctrl-C keys, and it moved on, but then it was whining about some library missing or something. So I figured I'd let it run and see what happens.

    rsync error: received SIGUSR1 or SIGINT (code 20) at rsync.c(229)
    /usr/local/cpanel/cpaneld: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/local/cpanel/perl/Fcntl/Fcntl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    OK, got figured out I think.

    Thanks to Cpanel support, they got it installed for me.

    This is what I believe happened. I logged into my RedHat machine and su'd to root. Ran the install.

    After the install hung, I noticed my account could no longer su to root.

    The Cpanel tech was logged in as root, and it worked fine for him.

    My belief is that my account no longer had permissions to access the file systems rsync needed at that point in the installation because "technically" I was still me and not root.

    Thanks for you help Cpanel Support!
