Problem logging in to whm

Hi

When I try to login to WHM or a client tries to login to CPANEL this messages is presented :

xxxx.xxxxx.com:2083 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed.

(Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer)

How do I resolve this?

Cheers
Chriiz

Well, of course you can purchase a trusted cert, but since you know that your self-signed certificate is secure, and since your customers trust you, simply advise them to ignore the warning. Better yet, recommend that they use Firefox so that they will be prompted to add an "exception" and no longer get the pesky warning when logging in to cPanel.

Hi

Thanks but I need a FIX not a workaround. I know how to add an exception in firefox but this doesnt stop the problem for my clients.

I have an ssl cert installed on the server so im not sure why this is happening. do i need a 3rd party cert?

Cheers
Chris

If you want to use/see/install to browser the valid cert for the server itself when you or users login to cPanel, you might check your redirection settings in WHM > Tweak Settings > Redirection.

Yes, and the fix would be to remove the snake oil cert and replace it with a trusted, purchased cert.
