    Default Problem starting apache

    Hi,

I'm facing problems starting apache. The error reported is :

Invalid command 'BytesLog', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration
/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started

Please help me to sort out this issue.

    Thanks

Edit your /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf and add the Byteslog module

    nano -w /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf

Now look through the "AddModule" entries for the "AddModule mod_log_bytes.c" (without quotes) if its not there add it below the last AddModule entry...

Now look through the "LoadModule" entries for the "LoadModule bytes_log_module libexec/mod_log_bytes.so" (without quotes) if its not there add it below the last LoadModule entry...

    Save the file

Hit Control + X, hit y and press enter

    Restart Apache

    service httpd restart

for anyone reading this who has a similar problem:

I had the same problem as vihu and I followed AMD64's instructions but httpd would still not start.

I then had to re-compile mod_log_bytes.c and it httpd started fine:

    cd /usr/local/cpanel/apache
    /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs -iac mod_log_bytes.c

    full details were found here:

    thanks 4 all your help.

    Default Fixed mine

    cd /usr/local/cpanel/apache
    /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs -iac mod_log_bytes.c

That fixed my problem as well.

check out file permissions or you have permission for the command you are using.

    Cool

    hey guys

A much better solution is to rebuild apache.

Go into WHM - Apache Update

Untick rebuild apache if its up 2 date. That will make sure apache is rebuilt !!

This did not fix this specific issue on a couple of my servers,
the other options in this thread provided the solution though.

    /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs -iac mod_log_bytes.c
