Problems compiling Apache and php 4.4.1 \ 4.4.2

Since a few weeks ago we bought another Dual core opteron server (64 bit)!
We saw that CPanel supported CentOS 4.2 64 bit version, so we installed it.
This brought some bugs with it we never saw before.
I searched on google for a answer, but that was no succes!


Problems with the compiling of PHP 4.4.1:
- Can't compile the Imap module, because i got the next error:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server:
/usr/lib64/libc-client.so.0: undefined symbol: mm_dlog


Problems with the compiling of PHP 4.4.2:

- Can't compile the Sablot, Domxlt module, because i got the next error!
configure: error: zziplib module requires zzlib >= 0.10.6.

Could you please tell me how to fix this problems?
I have more than 200 accounts on that server, so it need te be fixed asap.

You could log it with cPanel through your license provider.

IMX, every server that I've seen running x64_86 has some library problem or other. IMHO, the OS is not suitable at all in the cPanel environment and my recommendation would be to install a 32bit OS instead. Failing that, you'd probably need to hire someone familiar with 64bit Linux's foibles.

Has someelse got an solution for my problems? Because i can't reinstall the linux version with 200+ accounts on it. This is a problem of CPanel, because CPanel said that they supported CentOS 4.2 64 bit.

This is a problem with the OS applications and not with cPanel.

cPanel is nothing more than an interface for various tasks, albeit a rather good one. cPanel will use the applications that the OS supplies. If there is a problem with those applications, that is not the fault of cPanel.

We had to move away from cpanel on several boxes because of errors with CENTOS 4.2/64 bit.

CPANEL out of the box (default settings) , is NOT compatible with this OS regardless of what anyone tries to tell you.

We have done extensive research on any fixes and have come up with nada.

Because of this finding, we were forced to go to webmin or downgrade the entire systems.

If it is the OS's fault as some state above, the bottom line is CPANEL is NOT compatible with this OS out of the box and should state such on their site.

Very misleading IMO and has cost us dearly (in downtime and admin time) because of this.

Unfortunatly not every problem has a solution people like. As stated 64bit is not stable enough nor suitable for cPanel. You may have to bite the bullet and do as suggeted and install a 32bit OS.

No, just not everything is compatible. Keep 64bit.


Imap module is not compatible with php/64bit

remove it and you're good to go.

Funny... it seems others cannot recompile apache.
