    Default Pure FTP authentication message

can anyone tell me where to change the pure ftp authentication message that shows when a user types in a wrong username or password?
Default is : 'Authentication failed, sorry.."
I need to change that to something more user friendly like: "Login error..."

    Anyone ever done this?

Since pure-ftpd is far less configurable that proftpd, most of these options have to be set during compile time, so you're probably out of luck.
