pure-ftpd

I clicked 'Switch to Pure-ftpd' in WHM and got this:

Retrieving http://updates.cpanel.net/ftpservers...panel.i386.rpm

Ftp Server Install Complete

Only thing is when trying to login to FTP i then get:

Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)...

When i do ps aux fron shell there is then no ftp server running. If i go back to WHM the restart services lists proftpd again, and Tweak FTP settings says proftpd is installed. The only way to get ftp to work is to reboot the proftpd process, which doesnt give my pure-ftpd like i wanted.

any ideas?
