Default pure-ftpd: non-cPanel users can't log in to ftp service

Hi, I recently install cPanel on RHEL and CentOS (both of them use the latest version). But I found something weird, non-cpanel users cannot login to ftp server. Users created using cpanel scripts (and from WHM) are doing fine, but not with users created with usual command (useradd).

The ftp sessions failed with "530 Login authentication failed".

Is there any suggestions? Maybe I have to change some configs?

I've not tried tested this, however, you should just be able to edit the pure-ftpd.conf file and uncomment this line:

    # PAMAuthentication yes

Restart the service once done of course.

Enabling PAMAuthentication doesn't work. I tried to enable UnixAuthentication and it works great. Thanks.

One thing bothers me. This "enabling UnixAuthentication" is not needed on one server, but I have to enable it on another. I don't remember messing up with PAM or passwd authentication.

Any scenario as to why this happened? Or maybe you need to look at some configs?
