Question about ip change

I have a situation that a client wants to have an SSL sertificate.
I have understood that he would need his own ip-address.

Current situation is this:

Domain.com is pointed to name servers 222.222.222 and 222.222.223
He wants a certificate and I have a usable ip 222.222.224

If I use WHMs Change Site's IP Address -function, I could set account point to 222.222.224
and then install the certificate.


Is there anything else I should do?
Will WHM guide all requests to that Domain.com to right IP-address, or should I also add new name servers to that IP also?

General thing for reseller account with WHM is to set them up with name servers ie. ns1.domain.com on 11.11.11.11 and ns2.domain.com on 11.11.11.12 also set their domain to be on IP 11.11.11.11 and have all their resold accounts either on the main shared IP for the server or you can have all their accounts on the second IP address 11.11.11.12.

As they are already setup on a "Dedicated" IP ie. no other sites. Its ok to use that to setup their SSL certificate on. You save on IP addresses

Hello,

You don't have to do anything else. If you move and IP to another, it will make the changes in DNS ZONE automatically. If you have already set his NS in Reseller Center, and gave him the dedicated Ip from Name Server Management, that's fine. But, be carefull, giving a dedicated IP to a reseller that's mean you will get trouble to free up the IP if the reseller don't need it later. We got trouble with that and were unable to get back some IPs.

But these current ips and name servers have other accounts too attached.
If I set up SSL to this shared IP, it wont work correctly.

So I really need to use another IP ?

At the moment you already have them setup and using nameservers, is their main account (domain.com) setup to use the shared IP on the server? If you did not change things then they should be.

An SSL certificate must have the domain on a dedicated IP address ie. no other domains can be using it, it can be used for other purposes like name servers.

So rather than use another IP address use one assigned to their nameservers.

I didn't yet quite catch the idea.

Lets say that this domain name is: test.com
It is currently setup to use name servers: ns1.demo.com and ns2.demo.com
IP for: ns1.demo.com is 111.111.111 and ns2.demo.com is 111.111.112

I have free IP 222.222.222 that I want to use for this test.com site.
If I use WHM's "Change Site's IP Address" feature, will this domain work on those old name servers: ns1.demo.com and ns2.demo.com or should I setup new name servers for this site?

Differences between local and free internet IP`s ?

free IP`s 64.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to 191.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
and
193.xxx.xxx.xxx to 254.xxx.xxx.xxx

local area IP`s 192.0.0.1 to 192.255.255.254

local ip`s are not routeable,
than the subnet mask
(usual 255.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.0 for local ip`s)

the localhost adress (127.0.0.1)
routed for the local computername or domain to
a adress, (myhost.liquid.gb, 192.168.0.2)

and the adress translation protocoll.
routing a ip (subnetmask) to a other ip
and domain names.

sounds like you are talking about your xp home network, whereas trigger and petfut are talking about SSL on dedicated IP on a proper server running Linux in a data center
Anyway , will be in Berlin in 2 month , maybe you can run me through your magical formula then
