Hi,
I'm having a bit of trobule installing an SSL cert. I've done this before and it worked perfectly but this time it's not.
Ok, let's say my main server ip is 192.168.0.100 and is also the shared ip.
We'll also say that my hosting company domain is acmehosting.com and is installed on
192.168.0.100, the main server ip and shared ip.
Finally, my host name is "host.acmehosting.com"
This means I am able to access every website as follows...
http://host.acmehosting.com/~username/
Now, by installing my SSL cert on 192.168.0.100, I should be able to access each site securely like so...
https://host.acmehosting.com/~username/
According to the rule that a cert must have its own IP, this should not work correct? However, I've made it work before but I cannot remember what I did.
Can someone point me in the right direction to make this work?
To put it differently, how can I set it up so every name based hosting account can have SSL access without a wildcard cert and without errors.
I'm thinking maybe this...
If I switch acmehosting.com from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.1.101, can the hostname still be host.acmehosting.com (192.168.0.100) and still be able to offer secure access for name based accounts? (https://host.acmehosting.com/~username/)
Thank you in advance for your help!![]()
